Portfolio Example 10 — Showing a diversity of work

Wilson Jiang wanted to be a concert pianist, then a civil engineer, and now he is studying architecture.

“I was always fascinated by how the built environment shapes peoples' cultural, spatial, and social realities, whether it was through music, physical buildings, or social interactions,” he says.

Jiang completed a Bachelor of Architectural Studies at the University of Toronto, where he specialized in design. He entered the three-year Master of Architecture program at Carleton University in fall 2021.

“My portfolio basically compiles works from my undergraduate studios,” he says. “I wanted to show a variety of skills and concepts, from more precise analytical drawings and models to conceptual sketching, sketch models, and even a light drawing.”

In addition to being accepted to Carleton University, Jiang also received an offer of admission from the architecture school at Dalhousie University.
